Competition items:
Painting: children's painting, Chinese painting, oil painting, acrylic painting, gouache, watercolor, pastel, sketch, comics, craft painting, etc.
There is no limit to the style, technique and color of the work, so as to give full play to the creativity of the participants. Participants can freely choose to use different styles and colors to compete. (The size of the work shall not exceed "4-fold" 48.5cm X 33.5cm)
Digital Painting:
There is no limit to the style and technique of the works, but works generated by artificial intelligence are not accepted. (The physical size of the works participating in the exhibition shall not exceed "4-fold" 48.5cm X 33.5cm; the file size of the works submitted for the preliminary selection shall not exceed 4MB)
Entries must be submitted in .JPEG, .jpg, or .png format. Other formats such as .pdf will not be accepted.

Infant Group: 3 years old or below
Preschool Group 4 - 6 years old
Children's Junior Group 7 - 9 years old
Children Senior Category 10 - 12 years old
Teen Junior Category 13 - 15 years old
Teen Senior Category 16 - 18 years old
Youth Open Category 25 years old or below
Public Group No age limit
Theme and content:
The works should be in line with one of the following themes and the names of the works shall be determined by the participants.
1. Wind
2. Night
3. Summer

Works and registration form:
Only online registration is accepted.
For the preliminary selection, you only need to submit a photo file of your work.
The works selected to enter the finals must submit the original works to the competition after registering for the finals.
If your school or organization has more than five participants registering, please contact staff to arrange for group registration.
There is no limit to the number of entries each participant may submit, but each entry can only be submitted once, and each entry can only be registered once for that competition.

Primary election:
The entry fee for each competition is HK$100 (US$13.5)
(Fees include: competition, participation/results certificates, postage and other administrative costs)
Finals:
The entry fee for each competition is HK$350 (US$47)
(Fees include: competition, awards, winners’ exhibition, and picking up the works in person at the exhibition venue)
*The gold medal winners and the first, second and third place winners of each category will be eligible to participate in the annual international finals. The registration fee will vary depending on the venue and exhibition area. Details will be announced when registering for the international finals.
The annual finals of the International Group will be held after the completion of the Metropolitan International Youth Arts Festival 2024 Regional Painting Competition (Winter).
Procedures for submitting registration and entries:
Primary election:
1. After completing your work, measure the size of your work and take a photo of it so that you can upload it when registering.
1.1 Specifications for the photo file of a "Painting":
1.1.1 Only flat works are accepted. The physical size of the work should not exceed 48.5cm x 33.5cm.
1.1.2 Please refer to the picture below to take a photo of your work and submit it
(Just take a photo of your entry and try to capture the full frame of your photo in the file.)
1.1.3 Photo files of your work are only accepted in .JPEG/.jpg/.png format (.pdf and other formats will not be processed), and the size cannot exceed 4MB
1.2 "Electronic Painting" work file specifications:

1.2.2 Please keep the backup files of the early and middle stages of the creation of your work and provide them to the competition committee when necessary to prove that the work is the original work of the contestant. The competition committee may also randomly check the original process files of the work.
2. Pay the preliminary registration fee according to the payment method specified in this regulation, and take a photo of the deposit receipt/deposit slip or prepare an electronic payment certificate or screenshot and upload it when registering.
3. Complete the following online registration form and upload the entry file and payment proof in the registration form:

4. After completing the registration, please keep the automatic reply slip and check the registration information in the receipt.
5. The event will send out a registration confirmation email after the registration deadline. Please check the registration information in the email and write down the competition number for future inquiries and further registration. If you have not received any notification one week after the deadline, please contact us.
Finals:
1. After receiving the promotion notification email, you can register for the competition through the registration link in the email. Please complete the payment process before entering the registration process.
2. Pay the final registration fee according to the payment method specified in this regulation and take a photo of the deposit receipt/deposit slip or prepare an electronic payment certificate or screenshot and upload it when registering.
3. Go to the finals registration link in the promotion notification email, enter your entry number and upload your payment proof.
4. Participants of the “Painting Category” must download the “Submission Label” from the Association’s website, fill in the competition number, participant’s name and other information, affix the “Submission Label” to the back of the work, and mail the work to the Association.

5. Participants of the “Electronic Painting Group” do not need to mail or resubmit their works. The works that advance to the final round will be submitted directly for scoring after the registration for the final round is completed. However, the competition will request the original process files from the participants for the judges’ reference or request higher-pixel files for exhibition arrangements when necessary.

Important Dates of Competition

The gold medal winners and the first, second and third place winners in each category will be eligible to participate in the annual international finals. The registration fee will vary depending on the venue and exhibition area. Details will be announced when registering for the international finals.
The awards will be presented at the awards ceremony or exhibition. Those who are unable to attend can apply for the award one month after the ceremony or exhibition. Details will be announced before the event.
Awards:
Personal Awards:
The preliminary round will select the works that will advance to the final round. All finalists will be awarded a certificate of "Excellence". Other participants will be awarded a certificate of "Excellence" or "Participation" according to the level of their works.
Each group in the finals will have a champion, a runner-up, and a third place, as well as gold, silver, bronze, honors, and an unlimited number of participation awards.
The names of the champion, first runner-up, third runner-up and gold, silver, bronze and honors prize winners will be displayed on the event winners list.
The gold medal winners and the champion, second runner-up and third runner-up works in each category will be eligible to participate in the annual finals of the international category.
*The International Group Annual Finals will be held after the completion of the Metropolitan International Youth Arts Festival 2024 Regional Painting Competition (Winter).
Group/Tutor Awards:
Groups, schools, institutions or tutors that recommend 5 or more contestants to the preliminary round each quarter will be awarded the "Outstanding Arts Promotion Award" to recognize their contribution to the promotion of arts.
Each quarter, groups, schools, institutions or tutors that recommend 5 or more contestants to successfully advance to the finals will be awarded the "Excellence in Arts Education Award" to recognize their outstanding achievements in arts education.
Groups, schools, institutions or tutors who are interested in competing for the "Outstanding Arts Promotion Award" and "Excellent Arts Education Award" must accurately fill in the name of the institution or tutor when registering as a contestant, or register as a group. All contestants who are counted as the same group, school, institution or tutor must fill in the exact same institution name or tutor name. The Chinese and English names are treated as two institutions or tutors respectively.

Articles and Rules:
The "Metropolitan International Youth Arts Festival 2024 Hong Kong Drawing Competition (Summer)" will be conducted in accordance with the "General Rules and Regulations of the Competition", "Supplementary Rules for Competitions without Venue Attendance" of the Hong Kong Athletics Assessment Association and the Supplementary Rules and Regulations of this competition. Once registered, participants have understood and agreed to abide by the contents of each rule and regulation.
Additional Charter Rules
Once all works are submitted, it means that the author agrees that the association may display the works at any time and in any way without the need for further consent from the author.
All works have the opportunity to participate in the exhibition. The works will be retained by the Association for a period of time until all related exhibitions are over. If you need to retrieve the works, you must arrange it during the exhibition. Participants can inquire with staff after the competition is over, or pay attention to the announcement on the Association's website.
The following works will be disqualified:
Photos obtained in violation of the rights of others;
Photos containing pornographic, nude, obscene, violent or other controversial or inappropriate content;
Photos that intentionally harass, disrespect or damage the wild environment;
Photos that threaten the safety of any person or animal;
Works generated using any artificial intelligence software.All arrangements for retrieving works do not require postage and there are no administrative fees.
The Association will not be responsible for any damage to any works.
One month after the end of this year's competition and exhibition, unclaimed works will be handled by the Association at its sole discretion without further notice.
